I live in Cheshire and lead the rather hectic life common
in most families, raising three boisterous boys of fourteen, twelve and
nine.
Professionally I trained and qualified as
a clinical psychologist in England before moving to Australia for seventeen years. In that time I was employed as a
clinical psychologist with families and children at risk of harm and began
writing about parenting, child development and family issues.
I’m now working for the NHS as a
consultant clinical psychologist supporting families and children in the
West Midlands and I write about parenting and issues that matter for
families. I’m interested in everyday challenges for families, such as
managing temper tantrums, helping children sleep and keeping relationships
alive, as well as more specialist subjects such as parent-child attachment,
bullying, disabilities and anxiety in children.
More recently I have found it very satisfying
to collaborate on a book about child development and parenting.
Your Child Year by Year
Last of all, but certainly not least, I
try to reassure myself that it’s okay not to be “Supermum” and to take my
own advice when I remember!
